Pinoleum blinds in summer conservatory

The British Heatwave

The Met office has announced that this year’s summer was one of the hottest on record. The summer of 2018 is now tied with 1976, 2003 and 2006 for the warmest summer since 1910. With the temperatures remaining high throughout June and July.

With the changeable English weather being what it is, the heatwave can feel like a distant memory. This is because, the darker and cooler evenings have started. However, it’s important to remember just how warm it got during the summer. Especially in rooms with a large amount of glazing like a conservatory. We reported at the time how the unusually warm weather was affecting both our customers and our installation staff, who had to work in increasingly warm conditions to fit the blinds.

Throughout the heatwave we were contacted by a lot of people who only just experienced how warm their a conservatory can get during a heatwave. They needed blinds as soon as possible in order to help keep it cool. We obviously can’t predict how warm next summer will be. But it’s all the more reason to make sure that your rooms are ready. By getting in contact now you can get the added bonus of making the room more comfortable. Our blinds are great for the Britain’s unpredictable weather and therefore can keep your room comfortable all year round:

Creating A Cool Conservatory

The correct range of blinds in a conservatory or glass extension can provide a level of insulation in all seasons. In the summer months they help to reflect heat from the sun making the room feel cooler and livable. However, in the colder months they help to absorb heat to make the room warmer. All our blinds provide a degree of insulation but some have better properties than others. We tend to recommend our Duette® Pleated blinds, as their unique honeycomb structure are perfect for temperature control.

Privacy and Security

Many customers worry about privacy in their glass extension or conservatory. This is especially the case in the winter months, as when it’s dark outside everyone can see in but they cannot see out. This can create a mirror-like ‘goldfish bowl’ effect in the room. However, our blinds is they can help to solve this problem. This is because, they provide total privacy to the room so it can be enjoyed all year round. Additionally, if customers opt for our bespoke smart blinds it means they can control their blinds with a touch of a button. This is either via handset, smartphone, tablet or even voice control devices such as Amazon Alexa. This allows customers to control their blinds even when their not home – adding security to their home when they are away.

Other advantages include;

  • Reducing glare
  • UV protection
  • Reduced Noise
  • And many more
