Are you considering installing conservatory blinds and not sure whether to install manual or motorised blinds? We’ll delve into the different manual and electric conservatory blinds benefits.

Manual Vs Electric Conservatory Blinds Benefits and negatives…

Manual Blinds

You can control our manual blinds in a few ways. Most recess-fit conservatory blinds are moved up and down via handles at the bottom of the blind as demonstrated in the photo below. However, we also offer Literise® and Smartcord® options with a spring and clutch mechanism for blinds that hang in front of the door. The spring and clutch mechanism ensures the blind stops where leave it and is entirely child-safe. We do offer roller blinds that you can control via a sidechain.  Although, we often don’t recommend roller blinds for conservatories – especially the roof.

As for conservatory roof blinds they are controlled with an extendable pole that slots into the bottom of your blind and allows you to lift each blind and down individually.

It is worth noting that manual blinds overall cost slightly less than electric blinds, but if you have several blinds they can be time-consuming to manually open/shut.

Electric Blinds

All of our blinds including Duette® conservatory blinds, pure pleated blinds and pinoleum blinds each have different benefits and can all be made motorised.

Duette® are thermal conservatory blinds, meaning they have a honeycomb texture that traps heat inside the fabric in the wintertime, helping you regulate the temperature in your conservatory, which many people struggle with. Pinoleum blinds also have an optional Solar Lining that acts similarly, but this blind dapples the sunlight and allows you to see out of your conservatory. However, we specifically made our pure™ pleated blinds for conservatories. Pleated blinds, therefore, last longer and look new for many years after installation.

Motorisation is more popular for people wishing to shade their conservatory roofs. This is because some people find it tedious to use a pole to control each roof blind, or even struggle with mobility issues. With motorisation, you can shut or open your blind individually or all at once to your exact preference. We would also recommend electric bi-fold door blinds and gable end conservatory blinds. Motorised roller blinds are great for covering larger areas of glazing like doors or large windows. In the long run, even though electric blinds have a higher cost than manual blinds, the time-saved and ease of use makes them worth the extra money.

Different controls and their Benefits for Electric Conservatory Blinds

Our pureRemote Control Blinds are our most popular choice for electric conservatory blinds. With one box you can control up to 36 blinds. However, since you can control up to 3 boxes you can control up to 99 blinds all at once in different zones. Check out our video below for more details!

Our other control options include:

Smart blinds – These connect to a smart home system and can be controlled via voice, smartphone or app.

Battery-operated blinds – These are a great option if you cannot connect your blinds to a power source nearby but still wish to shut them with a handheld or wall mount.

You can shade your home in seconds with electric conservatory blinds rather than manual ones. But at Specialist Blinds, we offer both solutions and a free quotation appointment. So, get in touch today!
