Can you get Blinds for a Lantern Roof?
Many people are surprised when they learn lantern roof blinds exist, but blind specialists have been making blinds for lantern roofs for years! Whether you want your blinds for a lantern roof for shading or temperature control there are many popular fabrics and installation options to pick from. In comparison to regular window blinds, lantern roof blinds are installed in a very different way and our most popular range actually runs across the base of the lantern rather than against the glazing. The lantern roof blinds also retract to near-invisibility and we can often install them without support wires running across, depending on the size of your lantern.
Although we also offer blinds that fit against each individual pane of glazing in your lantern, most people prefer the look of just one or two blinds across their lantern. The fewer blinds, the neater the overall finish and the simpler they are to control. Due to our large shade range and range in sizes, we can help provide you with the best finish. Best Fabrics for Lantern Roof Blinds
Duette® lantern roof blinds : Are your best option for controlling temperature within a room. The hexagonal double-pleat structure helps preserve heat in your room by reducing the amount of heat escaping through your glazing. These are also effective with shading as both Duette® blinds and roller blinds come in a variety of transparencies as well as colours, even ranging to dimout blinds for an almost ‘blackout’ effect. Duette® blinds can be fit individually to the panes of your lantern or along the base. However, if you have a large lantern roof then you may require a support wire.
Roller Lantern Roof Blinds: Are great for covering a large lantern roof and we typically install them without any visible wires across the middle. Many customers prefer this ‘wire-free’ and favour roller blinds because of this. The roller material is great for shading your room, reducing glare and is also effective for insulation. We can only fit roller blinds for lantern roofs along the base of your lantern.
How do I control the blinds for my lantern roof?
You can control our lantern roof blinds manually or with motorisation. With our manual options, you would receive an extendable pole and slot it into the end of your blind before guiding it back or forth. However, it’s well worth investing in motorised roller blinds or Duette® blinds as the extendable pole can be awkward to hold up for some people with mobility issues. On the other hand, it is simply easier to operate with our motorisation options.
- Battery-powered Blinds: Are a popular option if you don’t have a nearby power-source and only discovered lantern roof blinds after your lantern’s installation. We tuck the batteries neatly between the lantern and the blind so no wires hang down. We also offer a solar-charge option! These can be controlled with a button on your wall or as remote control blinds.
- Smart Blinds: Our smart blinds can be controlled via app on a mobile or tablet or even voice controlled with a smart home device. With our Somfy® app you can even shade your home even when you’re not home.
