Are Skylight Blinds worth it?

Posted: 23 Dec 2022

Skylights are a great source of natural light and can allow you to have a skyview from the comfort of your home. Although, if you have a large skylight in a location where glare or excess sunlight is extremely inconvenient then we recommend looking into skylight blinds. Locations where blinds can be the most useful include bedrooms, living rooms and much more.

Why go to a Blinds Specialist?

Due to their high placement, some skylights can be located on vaulted ceilings or high ceilings that make them almost inaccessible to standard blind suppliers. As blind specialists, we go that extra mile by using tall scaffolding and years of precision to ensure your blinds do not sag. We have done this with other large projects, such as large triangular apex window blinds.

Our experience in conservatory roof blinds allows us to cover unique shapes and tensioned blinds that stay looking brand-new for many years to come.

Popular Skylight Blinds solutions and Benefits

Our most popular range in blinds is our Duette® thermal blinds which are also popular for our Duette® lantern roof blinds.  They have great insulation properties and are effective for reflecting heat in the summer but preserving heat in the winter. Our made-to-measure fit ensures maximum coverage for your glazing and therefore less heat can escape through your window.

We also recommend installing dimout blinds in your bedroom as some people require a darker room for a good night’s rest. Similarly, if you’re looking for a dim-out effect in a cinema room, dim-out blinds can enhance your viewing experience.

If you wish to still enjoy the natural light coming from your large skylight, our blinds come in an array of transparencies and we can choose a light shade to allow more light through. This option is particularly useful for reducing glare and slightly shading your living room. These types of blinds are great for ensuring your devices are visible and your furniture is protected from UV damage and sun bleaching.

Skylight blinds don’t have to appear as a last-minute addition to your room, they can accent your already established style or be a pop of colour on plain walls. We offer a wide array of patterns and colours. Certain fabrics leave a  soft coloured tinge across your room, filtering the light that comes through it to your chosen shade such as pink or yellow.

A recent Skylight Blinds installation we adore…

The ceilings in this installation were up to 4.8 meters high and required a tower to complete the job. The unique layout of this home meant that the windows were symmetrically mirrored on either side of wall. This customer wanted electric blinds that they could navigate from a range due to the awkward height. These remote control blinds are our controlled via our own  pure™ remote controls and gave our customer the freedom to control their blinds individually or simultaneously. This gorgeous lakeview and uncommon structure made it a site to remember for sure!

Customer reviews

Really pleased with the installation of dual blinds to our large, 4.6 metre long, roof lantern, in fabric to match our window blinds.

Very neat job by our fitter Jon Bradley, the dual blinds open and close perfectly in sync. We can thoroughly recommend this company to deal with.

We contacted conservatory blinds for our roof lantern/sky light blinds. Grant came to give us the quote. He was very professional and gave us all the options we could have.

We were then visited by the fitter who took all the measurements and arranged a fitting date with us. Blinds were fitted on the date agreed and they look amazing. It was little over our budget but quality and service we received was definitely worth it.

Context: the 4m x 5m garden room was completed just over 12 months ago and is my living space in our bungalow. However, the roof lantern has caused problem with intense direct sunlight given the south facing aspect of the room.

The electric blind perfectly matches the décor; the quality is superb; the frame and mounting are discrete and the operation of the blind both simple and smooth. It is the perfect final touch and my living space now feels finished.
