Do Conservatory Roof Blinds Work?

Many question if conservatory roof blinds work. But in fact they are a great way to control the amount of light entering your room. They can also offer temperature control and help to reduce noise pollution.

Shading the Right Parts of a Conservatory

One of the most important parts of getting blinds for an area like a conservatory is know what parts of the room needs shading, and what parts you would like to keep free of blinds.

As you can see from the photo below, this was the case with a recent customer in Somerset, who had our pure™ Pleated Blinds fitted into the entire roof of their conservatory, but only part of the side. They had blinds only on the side where most of the sun enters the room. This is so, they were able to reduce heat and glare while keeping the wonderful view of the countryside.

Pleated Blinds for Conservatory Roof and Half Side Windows

Since the majority of light from the sun enters a conservatory through the roof. We generally recommend roof blinds for anyone looking to make the room more comfortable. Depending on the way the conservatory faces, side blinds would be needed to make sure that the sunlight is still shaded when the sun is lower in the sky. This is something that’s especially important during the autumn and winter when the days are shorter. As, this can cause problems with glare.

You can see just by looking at the blinds on the sunny side of this conservatory just how much light there can be. This shows just how effective the blinds are at shading the entire room but still keeping it bright and usable.

Control the temperature in your Conservatory

As mentioned previously, much of the sun enters through the roof of a conservatory- with conservatory roofs sometimes reaching up to 60°C! As a result, with hot weather the room temperature can become unbearable.

Duette Conservatory Roof Blinds

Conservatory roof blinds work brilliantly at reducing temperatures. In particular our  Duette® thermal roof blinds help to prevent heat build-up with its specialist honeycomb structure. This helps to make glass extensions or conservatories feel cool in the summer months.

Reduce Noise Pollution in your Conservatory

It is no surprise that the weather in the UK can be very unpredictable. As a result, we receive a large amount rain and sometimes terrible high winds. Many customers have noticed that rain and wind can make their glass extension or conservatory very noisy.

However, our blinds help to reduce noise to make your room cosy and comfortable during the stormy weather. Mr & Mrs P experienced this first-hand with their new conservatory blinds: ⠀

“We have been so happy with our blinds. They are keeping us cool in the sun and warmer when it’s cold. We have also been very pleased with the reduction in roof noise from rain and birds – a very happy finding for us.”
