Can you get Blinds for Lantern Roofs?
Lantern roofs are becoming more prevalent, whether they’re in a traditional orangery or featured within a modern home’s kitchen or living room. There are two main types of blinds for lantern roofs that we would recommend. They both work in different ways and the different types of lantern roof blinds have their own characteristics. Read ahead to find out what they are!
Horizontal Blinds for Lantern Roofs
Horizontal blinds for lantern roofs run along the base of your lantern. We often require only one or two blinds to cover your lantern roof depending on its size. As a specialist, we have many lantern roof extension ideas that we can advise you with. But our most popular solution is our Duette® Lantern roof blinds. Duette® blinds are perfect for controlling the temperature within a room thanks to their unique design.
Heat loss is a common struggle for people with large lantern roofs, which is why we make extra large lantern roof blinds. The heat in your room can escape through the glazing of the lantern, making your heat bills more costly. However, the unique honeycomb structure of our Duette® blinds traps air in, preserving heat in your room over the winter. Large blinds for windows in your roof can also reduce glare and shade your room effectively.
Roller blinds are another popular solution for covering lantern roofs. We are often able to fit roller lantern roof blinds without any visible wires across the middle and with just one blind. This material is similar to Duette® in that it will shade your room, reduce glare and also help control the temperature.
Duette® blinds and roller blinds come in a variety of transparencies and shades, ranging from different colours to even dimout blinds. All forms of our lantern blinds retract away neatly. So, when your blinds aren’t extended you can barely tell they’re installed!
Individually Fitted Blinds for Lantern Roofs
An alternative method for shading your lantern roof is with individually fitted roof blinds. Due to our 25+ years of experience crafting conservatory roof blinds, we can create those uniquely shaped windows found in orangery roofs. These blinds fit just in front of each panel in your roof and you can use a wide variety of materials for these including pleated blinds, pinoleum blinds and the Duette® fabric mentioned earlier. Pinoleum blinds (pictured above) are very flattering on lanterns in timber-framed orangeries. The weave offers partial shading and optional solar-lining can help with heat retention during winter.
