It looks like the warm weather has started to arrive! This means for a lot of people it will be time to start using their blinds to help reduce heat and glare in their room; as well as increase privacy and protect from UV. To make sure that everyone gets the most out of their blinds during this weather; we’ve put together some simple tips for getting the most out of them:

Tip 1 : Extend your blinds before the warmest part of the day.

If you know it’s going to get warm during the day; make sure your blinds are extended in the morning before the heat starts. (Excluding blackout and dim-out fabrics*). That way, the heat won’t have a chance to build-up during the day and the room will be more comfortable. If you retract your blinds after the room has already built-up heat; then you will need to make sure there is enough of a through-draft so that all of the warm air can leave the room.

Tip 2: Look out for insects.

We’re starting to move into what’s called ‘fly season’. This is where flies and other insects become more common as the days get warmer. Try to make sure that insects don’t get caught behind your blinds and leave marks on the fabric. They can be easily removed without having to take down the blinds by just using a hair-dryer to blow them out. If you have Duette® fabric blinds, make sure to check that there are no insects in the honeycomb structure of the blind, which could create marks the next time the blind is retracted.

Tip 3: Operate your blinds regularly.

While it is tempting to leave your blinds extended throughout all the sunny weather, be aware that we do still recommend that you operate them at least once a week so that they can keep working like new.
