Using Blinds to Increase Privacy During the Evening

Using Blinds to Increase Privacy

Increasing Privacy with Made to Measure Blinds
Posted: 26 Sep 2018

From as early as September, it gets darker earlier in the evening. This means privacy can become a larger issue in any room with areas of glazing. Just having the lights on at night can create a “goldfish bowl” feeling – where it’s hard to see out, but everyone else can see in! Many people just stop using those rooms when it gets dark, but there are other options. An effective solution is using blinds to increase privacy in a room during the night, while still having the option to open everything up during the day.

Glass Roofs

Any area with a glazed roof, such as a conservatory, orangery, or an extension with a lantern roof, can have privacy problems from people looking in from above. Depending on exactly where the room is location, neighbours on a higher floor may have a full view through the roof. We have designed our ranges of conservatory roof blinds to have the neatest fit, even in awkward shaped glazing, this ensures gaps are as small as possible. Not only will this stop anyone from seeing through the room, but it will also add extra insulation to the room as the nights get colder. Our horizontal blinds are an excellent option for roof lanterns, instantly adding complete privacy with just a small amount of blinds.

Window Blinds to Increase Privacy

We have a large range of window blinds that will help increase privacy in the sides of a conservatory, orangery or extension. Our purePleated Blinds and the Duette® fabric blinds can be recess fitted into the frame of the window to minimise gaps, while the Vision window blind system allow you to control the privacy in your room by moving between semi-transparent and opaque fabrics.

Bi-fold Door Blinds to Increase Privacy

If you have a set of bi-folding doors, you might also start to have problems with privacy. Especially as some sets of doors essentially make an entire side of a room transparent. Our blinds for folding doors can be fitted into each individual panel, dramatically increasing privacy in the room.

Gable Windows

Commonly gable shaped windows feature as part of a conservatory roof. However, with many more renovating and self building their homes a new trend has evolved. Gable windows are now featuring in bedrooms, at the front of houses and above folding doors. Gable windows help to add an overall ‘wow’ factor to a home, but many experience problems with privacy. Our unique pureaspect™ system allows for us to effectively cover the gable shaped window with minimal blinds while also helping to solve problems with privacy, glare and temperature control.
