A lot of modern houses have a lot of glazing across the entire property. While this does create a very striking look – especially if there is a nice view to admire – it also causes a lot of problems with heat control and privacy. We had a recent customer with a home with those exact problems. Earlier this month we were able to fit our blinds across several different areas of their home; including our unique range of bespoke Duette® gable blinds.
This was an extremely complex installation that required over 50 individual blinds, with multiple different types of operation. We completed the install over a series of several days earlier this month; ensuring that the blinds were ready for Christmas.
Bespoke Gable Blinds
One of the main features of this home were three large gable windows in the main living and kitchen area, each with a set of folding doors beneath them. These each required a large gable blind, which would extend down to cover both the gable and doors. To help improve both privacy and temperature control, we recommended the thermal Duette® fabrics. With their honeycomb structure, they act as an excellent insulating layer to help keep the house warm.
Our pureaspect™ Gable blinds have a neat fit that is unique to them. They can fully retract away with a minimal stack, so they don’t get in the way when they’re not needed. What this means is that when the brighter days arrive again the blinds can be retracted without obscuring the views, while still having the option to increase shading when needed. They can also be extended to only cover the gable part of the window, allowing the folding doors to be used without obstruction.
Similar gable windows were also in the various bedrooms. Here the customers opted to have dim-out Duette® fabrics, for even more control over the light in the room. Dim-out fabrics have to be treated differently than normal fabrics due to the way they retain heat, which restricts where they can be used. Thanks to our experience using these fabrics, we were able ensure the blinds were fitted with enough space to allow the heat to dissipate so they could safely be used in the bedrooms.
We fitted all of the gable blinds throughout the house with battery powered operation. This means that motorised control of the blinds was possible without the need to connect it to a power socket.
Duette® Window Blinds
More Duette® Blinds were fitted in various windows and doors across the home, this time using SmartCord® operation. The SmartCord® cord retracts away when not in use, for a totally child-safe way of operating the blinds. Like the gable blinds, they offer increased privacy and heat control throughout the winter months; and will be there to keep the room cool during the summer.
These blinds were essential for transforming the home into a more private and comfortable space over the Christmas holidays.
