Supporting Others Over Christmas

Supporting Charities at CBL
Posted: 20 Dec 2017

At this time of year, the rush to get everything ready for Christmas can seem to overtake everything. But it’s also a time to remember just how hard this period can be for some people. Conservatory Blinds Limited feel it is very important to give back to the community by supporting the less fortunate and those in need. Consequently, we regularly donate to two charities in particular; Crisis at Christmas and Children With Cancer UK.

Crisis at Christmas

We at Conservatory Blinds Limited feel that it’s important to support the less fortunate of us during this time, which is why we support to charities such as Crisis. Crisis works to help and assist homeless people to put an end homelessness in the UK. The charity supports the homeless in 12 areas across England, Scotland and Wales.  They have been providing support, shelter and guidance on how to find work and a place to live since 1967. In 2019, they managed to help more than 11,300 people on their journey out of homelessness with over 11,7000 volunteers from around the country.

The ‘Crisis at Christmas’ appeal has been running for over 45 years, and provides centres for homeless people to visit on Christmas Day which offer Christmas dinner, fresh clothes, health checks, housing advice and access to Crisis’ year-round services for support. Not only does it mean that the homeless don’t have to spend the day alone, but it also puts them on the path to leaving homelessness behind in the new year. By supporting them you are able to provide more places at their centres this Christmas.

For the last four years we have been supporting ‘Crisis at Christmas’ by paying for a table of ten homeless people at the event. This includes:
  • A health check and treatment from a doctor, optician and dentist
  • Expert help with mental health and addiction problems
  • Advice on housing, employment and benefits
  • Three nutritious, hot meals daily, including a delicious Christmas dinner
  • A bed for the night if needed
  • A chance to shower, freshen up and get essential clothing
  • A warm welcome and good company.
Each guests can also access Crisis’ life-changing education, training and support.

There is still time to make a donation to Crisis at Christmas and help the homeless this festive season.

Children with Cancer UK

At Conservatory Blinds Limited we also donate to the ‘Children With Cancer UK’ charity. This charity helps to support young children and their families by funding research for improved treatments.  The charity has been supporting children with cancer since 1998 and have raised over £250 million to help against childhood cancer.  We have been donating monthly to the charity for many years, it’s great to know our donation is helping such a fantastic cause and having a positive affect. A little donation can make such a difference. For instance, £10 a month can fund research fellowships, so scientists like Dr Patrick Hales can focus their work on saving young lives. Make a donation to Children with Cancer UK today, to help fund research for childhood cancer.
