Shaped Window Blinds

While we are specialists in blinds for conservatories, orangeries and garden rooms. Our expertise means we can also make blinds that neatly fit into other areas of awkward shaped glazing and windows. A good example of this are the Duette® blinds that we fitted at the start of the week for a customer in Suffolk. Using our system with Duette® fabric is great for tackling awkward shaped windows blinds.

The customer had previously bought blinds from us for their conservatory in another property. They had mentioned to a member of our installation team during a maintenance visit that they had several shaped windows in another property. Thanks to our years of experience with making shaped blinds for conservatories and orangeries. We could find neat solutions for all these windows:

Covering Circular Window Blinds

The first area we needed to cover was a circular window positioned high on one wall of the building. To cover the area neatly, we could make a single Duette® blind. We cut this blind to both cover the window and fit around the arched shape above it. With just a single blind covering the area, there were no unsightly gaps over the window that let in light. Additionally, the blind was easy to control with remote control operation.

Large Awkward Shaped Window Blinds

The other two large shaped windows were very similar to some of the shapes we have previously found in conservatories – we used our own pureaspect™ Gable Blinds to fit a blind against the sloped angle at the top of the window, with the blind continuing down to floor level. We used a Duette® Dim-Out fabric to ensure that the blinds kept as much light out of the room as possible – as per the customer’s wishes.

Because we fitted the blinds while there was still other work going on in the house. The customer could build in recessed areas for our blinds to retract away to when not in use. Once the customer had decided what blinds and fabrics they wanted; the surveyor could give them an approximate size of the stack of the blinds when retracted. From, that the customer could ensure that there was enough covered space so that the blinds were totally invisible when not in use. You can see an example of this in the below photo; where the Duette® blind neatly fits into the gap when retracted:
