Make Your Home Child Safe With Conservatory Blinds Ltd
Make It Safe Campaign
The British Blind and Shutter Association, as part of their “Make It Safe” campaign, has a video which goes into detail on the various ways to ensure your blinds are child safe:Most of the blinds we sell, including our pure™ Pleated Blinds and Duette® fabric blinds, are safe by design. We also recommend different ways of safety operating blinds, such as LiteRise®, SmartCord® or any of our various ranges of electric blinds.
Child Safe LiteRise® Pleated BlindsLiteRise® pleated blinds are a popular choice, developed to operate your blinds without the need of a cord. Thanks to an integrated counterbalance spring and clutch mechanism the blind stops exactly where you leave it. This gives you precise control over your blind with no extra safety devices such as cleats. Many customers have considered transforming their conservatory into a playroom for their children after installing our cordless blinds.
Child Safe SmartCord® BlindsSmartCord® Blinds are also a ‘Safe By Design’ product. Thanks, to their short cord the blind is completely child friendly. Additionally, they are easy to operate with the cord being able to lift any size of blind, but which retracts into the headrail. Consequently, there is no need to worry about child-safety or resort to using cleats to tie up the cord.

This Duette® window blind has been fitted with the SmartCord® system. This allows for the cord to operate the freehanging blind but still be child safe. The SmartCord® system helps to eliminate the worries that can come with blind cords and young children, making your home a safe place for the little ones. . . . . #mumlife #bestoftheday #littlestoriesofmylife #letthembelittle #motherhoodunplugged #mommybloggers #babyigers #momitforward #parentingblogger #realmom #motherhood #mumsofinstagram #homedeco #luxaflex #interieurinspiratie #myhome #interior #yourblindsdirect #homedecorinspiration #homedecorideas #homedecor #windowblinds #interiordesigninspiration #interiordesignideas #windowcoverings #interiordesign #pleatedblinds #blackoutblinds #dayandnightblinds #visionblinds
Child Safe Cord Safety DevicesIn the event that we must fit blinds with looped cords, such as roller blinds, Venetian blinds or pinoleum blinds with a classic oak headrail, then we will always make sure that we install the required safety devices along with the blinds. These can range from:
- Cleats next to the blind which allow for the cord to be tied off to a safe length
- Connectors that convert a looped cord into a single cord
- Breakaway connectors that come apart when subjected to pressure and retractable cords that disappear back into the blind after operation.
