Interior Design Trends in 2021: Picking The Right Blinds
2020 is definitely a year we will all remember! With a majority of the UK spending most of their time at home last year, we’ve all had to adapt accordingly. This includes working from the dining room table, socialising via video chat and exercising in the living room. With so many of us spending all this time at home; we have seen an increased demand for people needing blinds. We install blinds in thousands of homes a year; all having to match different styles and décor. As a result, we have outlined some key interior design trends we are likely to see in 2021; to help you decide which blinds are best suited to your home.
Trend 1: Welcoming the dark colours!
For years, light colours – including shades of creams and greys – have been a popular choice for a lot of home owners. However, we have noticed customers are now opting for dark colours instead; to create a comfortable and cosy atmosphere in their room. This includes kitchens, sofas and blinds in shades of navy-blue, dark grey and black. Dark coloured blinds not only look great but also have many advantages when it comes to shading the room. They can be more effective at preventing unwanted heat and light, and they also look superb when paired with a dark frame such as anthracite grey folding doors.

Trend 2: The “countryside” style.
Another trend we are likely to see in 2021 is many people introducing a rustic style to their living and dining areas. This creates a traditional English feel to the room that works well with the use of classic oak styled furniture. At Conservatory Blinds Limited we have seen an increase of timber-framed orangeries, conservatories and folding doors in many homes around the UK. Our bespoke Pinoleum blinds are a brilliant product to match this type of décor. Their wood-weave textures provide a traditional yet sleek finish to any room. Our English Pinoleum blinds are available in any Farrow & Ball® paint, so customers can match the colour of their room with their blinds.

Trend 3: Long-lasting products for the home.
With most of the UK staying indoors, it’s no surprise that more people are spending money on improvements and products for their home. Unlike before, people are now looking for products that can stay looking new with the extra use they will now see; even if that means paying a bit more for a higher quality product. At Conservatory Blinds Limited, our blinds are designed to be very durable, so they can look like new for many years. Some customers have had their blinds for over 20 years, and they are still in excellent condition.
Trend 4: Using the space you have effectively!
Another major trend of 2021 is using the space you have effectively and in new ways. This could mean transforming spaces such as having a desk in your bedroom to turn it into an office, or using your conservatory as a playroom. It is more important than ever to ensure any room with vast amounts of glazing are usable all year round. We have several different blind ranges that are excellent at controlling temperatures and preventing unwanted glare, while also providing a high level of privacy. All key factors to consider when needing to use your glass extension as a multi-purpose space.
