Do You Need Blinds In A Conservatory?

Duette® Pleated Blinds Within a Conservatory
Posted: 20 Dec 2019
Many people question if they need conservatory blinds. We think they are a necessity in any room with a large amount of glazing. Despite the blinds adding an extra special touch to the conservatory décor, they also have several other advantages including; temperature control, reducing glare, UV protection and child safety.

Temperature control

Controlling temperature can be difficult in conservatories. This can cause the room to get very hot in the summer and cold in the winter: Many people will find that any room with areas of large glazing can be uncomfortable to use in the winter, and often stop using those rooms entirely until the spring. This is because, in the colder months, conservatories can lose a vast amount of heat through the glass and frames. Although the UK sees a lot of colder days, we are also seeing longer periods of hot days throughout the summer. Consequently, those with conservatories find it very hard to keep their room cool. The roof tends to be the hottest part of the conservatory, because of the build up of heat as heat rises. See our articles on how to keep warm in winter and cool in Summer. Our Solution A range of our blinds can help to prevent heat lose in winter, and also prevent heat build up in summer. For example, our Duette® Pleated Blinds are great for temperature control. Thanks to their unique honeycomb structure many customers can now use their conservatory all year round. Vision Blinds Suffolk

Reduce Glare

Installing blinds in your conservatory can also help reduce glare. Many customers experience unwanted glare within their glass extension. This makes it hard to use electrical devices such as the television, smartphones and tablets. However, our bespoke blinds can help to solve this problem. ⠀ Mrs G experienced this firsthand: ⠀

‘’I doubt that we will retract them very often as the room isn’t noticeably darkened but we have lost all the annoying glare!’’

UV Damage

A great benefit of our blinds is they help prevent UV damage. Many customers have experienced discolouring of the furniture and furnishing in their conservatory. Therefore, our pure™ Pleated Blinds are a popular choice. They help to stop direct sunlight which then helps to reduce UV damage. However, they still allow enough natural light in to stop the room feeling dark and gloomy.

Child Safety

Blinds can be a safety hazard for those with younger children. Make your home child friendly with our cordless blinds, this helps to eliminate the worries that can come with blind cords and young children, making your home a safe place. Many customers have considered transforming their conservatory into a playroom for their children after installing the cordless blinds. The blinds can be operated by remote control, battery, smart device or manually. Additionally,  our SmartCord® blinds are great for keeping your home safe for the little ones, but still allowing free-hanging, cord-operated blinds in your home. Regardless, most of the blinds we sell, including our pure™ Pleated Blinds and Duette® fabric blinds, are safe by design.
