If you read our news article in November 2014 about moving into our new factory; we mentioned how proud we were of our racking and numerous production tables. This is because we have purpose-designed and bespoke-manufactured all of these ourselves, to suit our exact requirements. This was only possible because we have our own metal-engineering and powder-coating facilities on site; allowing us to continue manufacturing blinds that are truly bespoke.
Blind Manufacturing
Manufacturing blinds for conservatories presents quite a unique set of challenges compared to any other blinds, but there are no ready-made production tables available specifically for our needs.
Compared to other types of blinds, the need for extreme accuracy (even over very long fabric lengths) is paramount. To address this, our production tables have linear motion guides (normally used in robotics) which are capable of providing perfect accuracy (with a zero margin of error) over a 5m length (approx. 16’) across both the X and Y axis of a blind.
This is a huge improvement on the dimensional tolerances set out in EN13150, which allows up to 5mm margin of error across the width of a 1m wide blind.
All of this means that our blinds can be made much more accurately, with far greater quality control.
Designing
But that is not all; we also designed quick-release clamps and fittings for all of the different types of rails that we manufacture. We then had them 3D-printed in a dense nylon and bronze-infused stainless steel composite, wiith a completely unique design. This improves efficiency and aids production.
We then colour-coded the base blocks for each type of rail that you can find in a blind; making it easy for our manufacturing staff to identify and quickly change components on the table during production. This is all without risk of scratching or marking the rails themselves.
Developing our own manufacturing process
This may all seem a little over-technical, but it comes down to this. No other conservatory blinds specialist has developed its own manufacturing processes to the point where it can build its own production tables with this level of professionalism and accuracy. We have even had one of the large European blind manufacturers ask us if we can make them production tables!
We have invested approx. £50,000 and thousands of man-hours in designing and fabricating all of these highly specialist production tables and storage racking for the 6m long profiles that go into producing our conservatory blinds.
Hopefully this demonstrates just how far advanced we are when it comes to conservatory blind manufacturing and is a reflection of our commitment to the very highest quality standards.
