Can I Have Perfect Fit Blinds? We Discuss the Pros and Cons…
Perfect Fit blinds (as pictured above) are a popular easy-fit choice for house windows, but do they work in all situations? “Perfect Fit” does not actually refer to the type of blind, but the frame surrounding it. The Perfect Fit frame can be push-fitted between the glass and neoprene gaskets of UPVC windows. Without the need for drilling or screwing.
However, due to their bulky frame, we tend to use them only in limited situations. A drawback to these fitted framed are they cover parts of the glass and essentially make the window smaller. Similarly, they do not offer a solution for glazing that has aluminium or timber framing, only UPVC. So, we do not recommend Perfect Fit blinds for sliding doors, folding doors, roofs, or awkwardly shaped glazing.
Perfect Fit Blinds for Sliding and Folding Doors
Perfect Fit Blinds are not the best window covering for sliding and folding doors due to their bulky framework. Their frames can interfere with the smooth operation of doors whether that be sliding or bi-folding doors, causing them to be dysfunctional. You could use them for a common push-pull door but it would still make the window appear smaller.
What we recommend: A better solution for sliding and folding doors is a blind that uses our unique pure™ rail. This is where we fit a blind into the recess of each door panel with two thin rails; one at the top and one at the bottom. Therefore, the doors can fold back completely without the blinds affecting the operation of the door.
Perfect Fit Blinds for Conservatory Roofs
The Perfect Fit frame solely works for square and rectangular shapes, which makes it only suitable for push-pull doors or side blinds. Otherwise, they cause large unsightly gaps when used in other shapes. For conservatory roofs, people tend to need more precise and awkwardly shaped windows catered to; therefore Perfect Fit blinds would be an imperfect solution for this.
A popular choice for conservatory blinds is our pure™ pleated and Duette® blinds. They are designed to tackle awkwardly shaped glazing such as triangular, trapezoid, or apex windows. We can cover almost any window no matter how big or small.
Framework and Fabric
In regards to your current framing, Perfect-fit blinds can work only on UPVC windows. For this, we offer cordless Venetian blinds, Pleated Perfect Fit blinds, and Roller blinds. With roller blinds in a Perfect Fit frame, you avoid the problems of free-hanging blinds, which sway in the wind and take up space. Additionally, Pleated Perfect Blinds can be a budget option instead of our more popular fabrics; though they don’t offer all the benefits. Moreover, as Perfect Fit blinds are only available for UPVC, those with timber or aluminium window framework must look for an alternative solution. And we are happy to help!
Whether you are looking for a drill-free solution due to the risk of rust or simply ease, then rest assured you have other options from Specialist Blinds. Generally, we would recommend the Tru-Fit blind system as this option as this drill-free option will also not interfere with the operation of the doors.
Our range of Duette® Pleated Blinds, pure™ pleated Blinds, Pinoleum Blinds, and neat Roller Blinds are also applicable to all frame types. In addition to reduced glare and privacy, our Duette® blinds also offer temperature control with our unique cellular honeycomb construction. This unique structure means there are no cording holes as the fabric has wires hidden within it.
Another option to consider is our ‘Top Down, Bottom Up’ blinds. They are fitted neatly into the recess of your frames and offer great flexibility. Conclusion
Perfect-fit may not be the perfect fit for you. Unless you are looking for a rectangular or square-shaped side-window blind and are willing to cover part of your window.
