Last Chance To Use Old 10 Pound Notes

Last Chance To Use Old 10 Pound Notes

Today is the last day the old paper £10 notes will be able to be used as legal tender. From tomorrow (1st March), only the new-style plastic £10 notes can be used, and retailers will not be able to accept them.

The new notes join the polymer £5 notes that were launched in 2016 as a way to both make the money harder to counterfeit and also make the notes more durable over time. A polymer £20 note is due to enter circulation sometime in 2020.

High-street banks may still allow you to exchange your told £10 notes for new ones after the deadline, but even after they have stopped doing so it will always be possible to exchange any old currency by taking it to the Bank of England itself.

Although we very rarely take payment for our blinds in cash it does happen from time-to-time, so changes like these are important to take note of.
