Pleated blinds
Pleated blinds

Pleated blinds - Solar Design pleated blinds in Buttermilk fabric, fitted in this wide-fronted Victorian style Anglian conservatory. The conservatory window blinds have been individually recess-fitted so that the blinds appear to be part of the conservatory. This image also shows how the 4 obtuse conservatory roof blinds do not require fixed infills at the base of the blinds, but instead can be made as one neat blind.

Pleated blinds (fully retracted). This image shows how neatly our Solar Design pleated blinds can be retracted including the 4 obtuse conservatory roof blinds. Other pleated conservatory blinds require fixed infills to create a 90 degree angle for the blinds which remains permanently visible, even when the blinds are retracted. This wide-fronted Victorian style Anglian conservatory also has recess-fitted window blinds with Pure technology which retract so neatly that it is hard to tell if there are any blinds there at all.

Pinoleum blinds in a Vale conservatory
Pinoleum blinds in a Vale conservatory

Smoothweave pinoleum roof blinds recess-fitted between the rafters of a Vale timber conservatory with Ivory finish and natural braid with white headrails.

Another company told this Middlesex based customer that it would be very difficult to recess-fit pinoleum blinds without large gaps due to the extremely long drop (height) of the blinds and very steep angle of the roof.

We were able to manufacture these blinds with a very narrow top width of just 65mm (approx. 2.5") to ensure that they fitted exactly with no exposed glass. (Our standard top width is 90mm).

Pure™ pleated conservatory window blinds
Pure™ pleated conservatory window blinds

Recess-fitted pleated window blinds with Melon solar reflective fabric in a UPVC conservatory with tinted polycarbonate roof.

This image shows that P-shape conservatories have an external corner which means that you can view the recessed blinds "edge-on" and see any gaps. Bearing in mind that this is a real conservatory and not a staged photograph, compare this image to any standard pleated blinds and you will see the enormous difference. The only gaps visible, even at this "edge-on" angle, are where the pleats extend inwards towards the glass by a few millimetres.

Pleated Blinds
Pleated Blinds

Pleated blinds in a gable end conservatory. These Solar Design pleated conservatory blinds are in Cornhusk Crush solar reflective fabric.

The roof blinds are butted up tight to the tie bars to minimise any gaps. Because the tie bars are relatively high up the rafters, the option of cut-outs at this point would have made the blinds part-operational and so was not recommended.

This Yorkshire conservatory blinds customer was originally considering vertical blinds but could see that they would tend to smother the conservatory, conceal the opening windows and use up the window sills. The pleated window blinds are recess-fitted so that they only occupy the glazed area, allowing the windows to be opened and retaining the window sills.

Pleated blinds. Solar Design pleated blinds recess-fitted to the roof and windows in a large "orangery style" timber conservatory in Hertfordshire.

The cream coloured rails and Cornhusk Crush fabric complement the conservatory perfectly and as the blinds are all completely washable, they can retain their "as new" appearance for many years - even when the conservatory is open-plan to the kitchen.

Vertical blinds in a conservatory
Vertical blinds in a conservatory

89mm vertical blinds, Venice Bianco fabric, fitted to the windows of a conservatory in Hampshire, with Apple coloured pleated blinds in the roof.

The doors have white pleated blinds rather than vertical blinds so that they do not move in the wind, or become damaged by the doors or people walking through them.
