Open Letter Reinforces Need for Blind Cord Safety

16 May 2012

The BBSA have published an open letter from a family that sadly lost their daughter after she was caught in looped blind cords, urging everyone to have the proper safety devices for their blinds.

The letter emphasises the need for people to take proper precautions when it comes to blind cord safety. This can be done by either using safety devices for corded blinds, such as reducers that convert a looped cord into a single cord or break links that come apart when subjected to pressure, or even different methods of operating the blinds, such as wand operated vertical blinds or motorised blinds.

It's tragic cases such as this that led to the BBSA's Make It Safe campaign some years ago, as well as planned changes in the European Standard for Internal Window Blinds, which makes child safety precautions mandatory.

Please take the time to read the open letter.
