Slight Change to Privacy Policy to Comply with new EU Law

We have had to make a very slight change to our privacy policy in order to comply to a new EU law that comes into effect at the end of this month.

The law is regarding the use of cookies (small files that a website saves onto a computer), especially the use of third party cookies used for marketing. The basic version of the law is that any cookie deemed to be 'non-essential' to the running of a site must now be opt-in - the visitor to the website must agree to their use. You can see an example of this on the ICO's website.

Our site does not use a lot of cookies, the only feature that really uses them is our interactive guide, where the cookie remembers the choices people have made as they go through the guide, meaning it is an important part of it working properly and so therefore an 'essential' cookie.

We also use a cookie on the site for analytics tracking. This cookie helps us see our traffic, what pages are the most popular, and also what paths people are taking through our site. These are considered "Performance Cookies" by the new law, which do not need to be opt-in at the moment.
