Happy New Year from Conservatory Blinds Limited

Today is our first day back following the Christmas break, so this is the first opportunity we have had to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

December and the lead up to Christmas produced a high level of sales, so we enter 2012 with great optimism for what the year has in store for us here at Conservatory Blinds Limited.

We have spent the break carrying out some much needed refurbishment works, as well as catching up on the manufacturing of some of our larger orders due to be installed in the next couple of weeks. We have also been preparing new brochures for our remote control conservatory blinds, which we hope to have printed soon.

Looking back on 2011 we also note that the increase in sales coincided with unseasonably mild weather. BBC News created an article about 2011 being the second warmest year on record based on the Met Office records. See the comparison chart below.

Even December, which had a very cold snap, ended on a high. The mean temperature for the first 28 days of December was 4.7C (40.5F); a big swing from 2010, says the Met Office, when temperatures were 5C below average for the coldest December on record.

What is particularly interesting, bearing in mind that we have been trading since 1995, is that all (bar one) of the top 10 warmest years on record have occurred since 1997 and all the UK's top seven warmest years happened in the past decade. This must have an impact on conservatory blinds sales.

It will be interesting to see if this trend continues in 2012.
