Following a survey of 2,092 people by the consumer group "Which?" three quarters of those questioned said that they believe all cold-calling should be banned... and for what it's worth, we at Conservatory Blinds Limited agree.

The survey continues and says that a quarter of those questioned felt intimidated by cold calls. This perhaps is the key to why we don't make any unsolicited calls - not only does it make the prospective customer feel awkward, but it does nothing to improve brand awareness and in our opinion actually harms a company's reputation.

Unfortunately this type of selling has become popular even within the blinds industry because it works if you make enough calls and have commission paid salespeople who are only motivated by money.

Because Conservatory Blinds Limited remains a family-owned and run company, we have a strong set of ethics that are untainted by sales targets or commission paid tele-sales departments. We do not have a call centre - all of our customers deal with our own salaried office staff based in our offices in Ewell, Surrey.

The fact that we don't conduct ourselves like the direct sales companies is often lost on people at first, because they assume every company is the same. It is only when we visit them that most people can see the huge difference.

We know that this is an issue because we contact customers after they have made an enquiry and ocassionally they mistake our reply for yet another unsolicited call by one of our main competitors. They tell us how genuinely unhappy they are with this type of approach.

Time after time we receive customer feedback and reviews saying what a refreshing change it was to deal with us.
