Are performance figures based on real-life conservatories?
No, performance figures are theoretical as they are not tested in a conservatory, nor are they using the same type of glazing.
Some test figures are based on single glazing, but those based on double-glazing do not account for the type or thickness of glass or even whether the gap is vacuum-sealed or argon filled.
Performance figures are not available for polycarbonate roofs. Because current legislation now stipulates that glazing must be far more energy efficient in respect of heat loss, such test figures may also be out of date and unrepresentative.
Tests are not carried out in a conservatory and so do not account for any part of a conservatory structure, the sealed volume of air being heated or for any level of ventilation. This is why we do not rely on the claimed statistics and simply recommend fabrics based on empirical evidence from our experience.
